European states express solidarity with Denmark and Greenland

Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and the United Kingdom have issued a joint statement in response to US President Donald Trump’s intention to annex Greenland to the United States.

The signatories expressed full solidarity with Denmark and the people of Greenland, stating their readiness to engage in dialogue based on the principles of territorial integrity and sovereignty.

“As NATO members, we are committed to strengthening security in the Arctic as a shared transatlantic interest. The ‘Arctic Resilience’ exercise, conducted with our Danish allies, reflects this necessity and poses no threat to anyone,” the statement said.

The countries also warned that tariff threats undermine transatlantic relations and could lead to a dangerous deterioration. “We will continue to stand united and defend our sovereignty,” the statement added.
