EU and India sign security and defense agreement

The European Union (EU) and India have signed a partnership agreement on security and defense. This was stated in a press release by the European Commission. As highlighted, this is the first agreement between the two sides in the field of defense and security.

It will strengthen cooperation in areas such as maritime security, the defense industry and technologies, cybersecurity and hybrid threats, space, and counter-terrorism.

The leaders of the EU and India also welcomed the conclusion of negotiations on an information security agreement. This agreement will facilitate the exchange of sensitive information and create a framework for closer cooperation in the field of security and defense.

This historic partnership was officially reaffirmed today at the 16th EU-India Summit held in New Delhi.
