Zelensky announces energy truce

An energy truce between Russia and Ukraine will come into effect on the night of Jan. 29, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a Telegram message.

He expressed gratitude to the United States for efforts to halt attacks on energy facilities and expressed hope that Washington will be able to help ensure the truce is maintained.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump had announced that he had asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to refrain from striking Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities.
