US urges its citizens to leave Iran immediately

The United States has called on its citizens to leave Iran without delay. US nationals are advised to consider departing Iran by land via Armenia or Turkey, according to a statement by the press service of the US Embassy in Iran.

“Develop a plan to depart Iran that does not rely on US government assistance,” the statement said.

The embassy also warned that US citizens should expect possible internet disruptions in Iran. It stressed that Americans face a high risk of arrest in the country, and that displaying a US passport or demonstrating ties to the United States could lead to detention.
