Prisoner issue to be certainly discussed in Baku: Vance on Armenian detainees

The issue of Armenian prisoners held in Baku will certainly be discussed in Baku, US Vice President JD Vance told reporters at Yerevan’s Zvartnots Airport before departing for Azerbaijan.

Asked whether he would raise the issue of Armenian detainees held in Baku during his visit, Vance said: “That certainly is going to come up. We have had a very good relationship with both the prime minister here, but also President Aliyev, I heard the prime minister say this yesterday, actually that he is optimistic about the peace deal based on where we are compared to where we were just a few months ago. So, certainly we are going to raise a number of topics, but I think we are going to continue to work very successfully with the Azeris and the Armenians,” Vance said.
