‘When you’re ready for war, you can prevent it’, Araghchi says
Iran is fully prepared for both a peaceful and a military scenario, but its goal is to prevent conflict, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in an interview with India Today ahead of talks with the United States in Geneva.
“We are fully prepared for both scenarios — for war, God forbid, and for peace,” Araghchi noted.
The minister said “the country’s armed forces are ready to carry out the tasks assigned to them, and Iran is capable of defending itself effectively.” He added that Iran has “learned many lessons from the recent war and is therefore better prepared.”
“And this, by the way, means that the goal is to prevent war. When you are ready for war, you can prevent it,” the diplomat stated.
Araghchi stressed that “there is no military solution to Iran’s peaceful nuclear program.”
“I am a man of diplomacy. I believe the path we have chosen is the best way to resolve this issue,” he added.
According to him, “if there are concerns or questions,” Tehran is ready to address them.
“However, we are not prepared to give up our right to the peaceful use of nuclear technology. That is what we insist on,” the Iranian foreign minister said.
