Former US counterterrorism chief says Charlie Kirk urged him to stop US from getting into war with Iran

Joe Kent, the former head of the US Counterterrorism Service who resigned yesterday, said his agency was not allowed to continue the investigation into Charlie Kirk’s killing, GB News writes.

According to Kent, the investigation by the National Counterterrorism Service was halted by the FBI.

In an interview with political commentator Tucker Carlson, he claimed Mr Kirk was “one of President Trump’s closest advisors and also advocated heavily against the war on Iran”.

Kent recalled that he last saw Kirk in June 2025, when Kirk told him in a loud and clear voice: “Joe, stop us from getting into a war with Iran.”

Kent added: “One of President Trump’s closest advisors, who openly argued that we should not start a war against Iran and should at least reconsider our relationship with Israel, was suddenly and publicly killed, and we are not allowed to ask any questions about it.”

Charlie Kirk, a supporter of Donald Trump, was shot dead by a sniper during an event in Utah.
