Ghalibaf says US must recognize Iran’s rights if it wants a deal
The United States must recognize Iran’s rights if it wants to reach an agreement, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of Iran’s Parliament, said upon arriving in Pakistan, according to Al Jazeera.
Ghalibaf, who heads the Iranian delegation, told reporters that they had come to Islamabad with a positive attitude, despite not trusting the United States.
He also pointed to what he described as Washington’s failure to uphold commitments made during previous rounds of negotiations, accusing it of having launched a war instead.
Talks between US and Iranian representatives are set to begin today in Islamabad, with both delegations already arriving in Pakistan.
