The U.S. Department of State responded to the statement of the man holding the Armenian prime minister’s post regarding Armenia’s membership in the CSTO. In response to the question of Voice of America, the State Department said:
“We respect the desire of Armenia as an independent country to keep to the security relations it has chosen, and we support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all the countries in the region.”
With regard to the issues concerning Yerevan’s relations with Moscow, the State Department noted.
“Russia is neither a reliable nor an assiduous ally or partner in the South Caucasus or elsewhere. We have seen many times that Russia is not concerned about the interests of Armenia.”
