Senate Foreign Relations Committee Member Rand Paul proposed a resolution aimed at blocking the sale of F-16s to Turkey, The Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) reports.
“Turkey has stood closely by its Azerbaijani ally in its efforts to subjugate the region. Turkey deployed U.S. F-16s to Azerbaijan, and they were used in the war in 2020. Azerbaijan’s subsequent military operation in 2023 killed thousands and created a humanitarian disaster, forcing more than 100,000 people to flee,” ANCA wrote on X.
The senator noted that it is important that the resolution be adopted.
The resolution, however, did not receive enough votes to be passed.
