Anti-government demonstrations demanding prime minister’s resignation taking place in Jerusalem

A demonstration against the Israeli government took place in Jerusalem. The participants called for the immediate return of the people held hostage by Hamas, Channel 12 reports.

The protesters demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as he is “an obstacle in the way of a deal over the release of the hostages”.

“The ball is now in our court, in the court of the people who are ready to fight for the fate of the country,” Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak said during the demonstration.

The protesters tried to break into Netanyahu’s house, but the police said they were unable to get close to the house. Five people have been arrested.
