Political scientist Suren Petrosyan, currently living in Voskepar, gave ABC media details about Nikol Pashinyan’s meeting with the residents of the village.
“The preliminary process has been suspended. He said there is a 90%-agreement with Aliyev that the existing positions will remain. In one section, there will be a mutual concession so that the road remains under our control. At the same time, he said that we should build the alternative road, but the residents were against it, because they understood that when the alternative road is built deep in our territory, a one-way concession will follow very quickly,” he said.
Although Suren Petrosyan was not allowed to attend the meeting, the participants told him that border guards should be stationed on both sides.
According to the political scientist, the main goal of the government was different.
“The residents, in fact, have managed to stop the process of the decline of entire statehood, at least until today. The authorities came to gain time to create a favorable atmosphere in these communities through their supporters, and then take action. Almost everyone is sure that their goal was to freeze the situation,” Petrosyan concluded.
