Russian Federation Council shames Alen Simonyan saying “the president of the National Assembly has crossed every red line”
Chair of the Russian Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko instructed senators to make an inquiry to the Armenian Parliament regarding the anti-Russian statements made by Alen Simonyan, the president of the Armenian National Assembly.
“I want to ask my colleague, the president of the Armenian Parliament, on whose behalf he is making such statements? Not of course, on behalf of the Armenian people, with whom we cannot overlook our centuries-old friendship,” Matviyenko noted.
She expressed hope that the Armenian parliament will ask its president “who gave him the right to speak so on behalf of Armenia” and will also express its position in that regard. “We will not shut our eyes to such kind of Russophobic, anti-Russian statements. It was a shame for our partner, who has crossed every red line,” she said.
To remind, at the conference of the presidents of parliaments of the EU countries, Simonyan, in particular, said that, taking into account the fact that “the conference centers on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the conflict in the Middle East”, he wants to state that Armenia “staunchly defends the territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as that of Moldova, Georgia, Cyprus and all countries”.
