Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova said at a press briefing that the deliberate drive of the countries of the collective West and that of individual Western states into the South Caucasus does not pursue peacekeeping ends at all but is carried out simply for economic and other benefits.
“The main goal here is not so much to benefit as to destabilize the region in all directions. This certainly upsets the balance of power in the region and literally harms the peaceful settlement, which should have been established in the region on the basis of relevant agreements,” Zakharova noted, adding that peace would open up opportunities to unlock economic potential through logistics.
