Media coverage: Who were on board the plane carrying Iranian president and what is known?

The Iranian media says the helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi had to make  a hard landing in East Azerbaijan province of Iran due to extremely poor weather conditions.

According to the news agency Mehr, the Iranian president was on his way to Tabriz from Khoda Afarin. In Azerbaijan, Raisi met with Ilham Aliyev today. He was accompanied by other officials, including the country’s foreign minister.

Some say Raisi’s helicopter crashed due to poor weather conditions. According to Al Jazeera, rescuers are unable to approach the site due to the foggy weather.

“All possible and impossible measures are taken, even drones are used, but they are not able to get closer to the site,” Al Jazeera says.

News reported by the Iranian, Azerbaijani and international media about the Iranian president are conflicting: Some say that after landing, the president continues his way by car.

Imam Mohammad Ali Ale-Hashem, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Governor-General of East Azerbaijan Province Malek Rahmati and several other passengers were in the same helicopter with President Raisi.
