You take up arms, stand next to me, and let us go together: General Staff Chief to journalist
The Border Guard Troops are on duty, while the Armed Forces perform their tasks in the designated areas, Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces Eduard Asryan told the press at the National Assembly.
Journalists asked the Chief of the General Staff many questions about the border delimitation and demarcation works conducted in Tavush, about the situation in Jermuk, but Asryan refused to answer the questions.
“The army is there; the army cannot leave anywhere. The areas where the border guard troops perform their service are in the army’s responsibility area as well, where we are ready to carry out protection,” the chief of the General Staff said.
In response to the question of one of the journalists as to whether he is sure that the territories ceded from Tavush were not the de jure territories of Armenia, Asryan said, “Yes, I’m sure.”
“You personally take up arms, come, stand next to me, and let us go together,” he said in response to one of the journalist’s question as to why the Azerbaijani troops have not withdrawn from Jermuk so far.
