The police and berets are not specially punished for their actions: Why?

Growing brute force and a crumbling legal system. The authorities have been trying to oppress the Opposition, but have not succeeded, Sergey Harutyunyan, a member of the Five Human Rights Defenders initiative, said today outside Saint Anna Church, Yerevan.

“If you have noticed, day by day, the berets use more violence against the supporters of the movement. The law enforcement agencies are focused especially on Artsakh Armenians. The mayors of Stepanakert, Martakert, Askeran were arrested last week. Thus, they are clearly oppressing Artsakh Armenians so that they would not attend the rallies,” he said.

Referring to the actions of punishing the law enforcement officers, Sergey Harutyunyan noted: “They are not specially put into custody or punished. If they are punished, other police officers will not obey illegal orders. They keep them blind like that,” the human rights defender said.
