Ruben Melikyan: The Church is rifted from the authorities, but not from the society
The Church is rifted from the authorities, but not from the society. Human rights defender Ruben Melikyan said this today outside Saint Anna Church, Yerevan.
“With its 1700 years of existence, dozens of dioceses and special activities, the Church has occupied and continues to occupy an irreplaceable position in people’s lives. Nikol’s team is up to running a special campaign so that people will begin to suspect the clergy,” Melikyan said.
Referring to the activities of the law enforcement bodies, Melikyan noted that they use disproportionate force and perform illegal acts. In addition, he said that until the movement reaches its victorious end, they will do their best to ensure that no one feels alone in police departments.
