I have said, and I am saying now, that not only I, but also our party and our supporters all support the candidate put up by Rev. Bagrat. Third President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan told the press outside the court.
“He said that he is the candidate, so we support him,” the third president noted.
In response to the remark that Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan has dual citizenship and thus, the Constitution forbids his candidacy, Serzh Sargsyan said: “There is a constitutional solution, and the Constitution allows two-thirds of the Parliament to change the clause that prohibits dual citizens from occupying high positions in Armenia. Yes, it’s a way out, a bit more difficult way out than the simple impeachment process, but it’s a way out.”
