Galuzin: Armenia’s hasty steps may make it impossible to have a common defense area with Russia

Armenia’s hasty steps may make it impossible to return to the joint efforts of creating a common defense area with Russia and other CSTO countries. As TASS reports, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said this.

“Nevertheless, hasty decisions that will provide Western countries with national databases and full access to information sensitive to the country’s security not only ultimately threaten the sovereignty of the state, but may also make it objectively impossible to return to the joint efforts of building a common defense area with Russia and other allies in the CSTO,” the Russian deputy foreign minister noted.

Galuzin expressed confidence that Armenia’s full participation in the organization’s activities is primarily in the interests of the Armenian people and serves the peace and stability in the South Caucasus region.

While Russia is really interested in the establishment of sustainable peace between its neighbors in the South Caucasus, the goals of the West are quite the opposite. “One of the main problems is to undermine our integration processes in Eurasia: the CSTO, the CIS, the EAEU,” the official said, adding that Washington and its allies are ready to take any step, including the destabilization of internal political and social-economic situation in states neighboring Russia.
