Moscow confirms its readiness to support the reconciliation between Yerevan and Baku, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin told TASS. As he noted, the Russian side positively evaluates the May 10-11 Kazakhstan meeting between Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov. According to him, Russia is ready to contribute to the search for mutually acceptable and balanced solutions to ensure the security and prosperity of all the countries of the region. The diplomat also highly appreciated the role of Astana, which created a platform for Armenian-Azerbaijani contacts. “It is important that such meetings are in line with the tripartite agreements reached at the highest level in 2020-2022, which, in addition to a conclusion of a peace treaty, suggest an unblocking of transport and economic links between Azerbaijan and Armenia, delimitation of a common border, and development of contacts between people,” Galuzin added. He also noted that Armenia has stopped showing interest in contacts with Russia at the level of Foreign and Defense Ministries, which is the result of pressure from the West. At the same time, Galuzin said that bilateral contacts between Moscow and Yerevan are not broken off. “We have significant results in the trade and economic sphere. The bilateral intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation is working effectively,” he noted.
