It was an illegal action by the police: MP on police obstructing his entry to Parliament
It was another illegal action of the police, who, not being able to refer to any legal norm, illegally infringed our right to free movement, MP Arman Ghazaryan from the opposing NA Armenia Alliance told ABC Media.
“They have just received an illegal order and are trying to illegally obstruct our entry under the guise of preserving public order,” Ghazaryan noted.
According to him, the police are obliged to ensure the movement of Members of Parliament, but they are carrying out illegal activities.
In response to the remark that they were advised to enter through another entrance, the MP said: “It is not up to them to decide through which entrance I should go. I have been a member of the National Assembly for two years, and the entrance was from this side. Since when does the police tell an MP what to do, especially considering that we are a country of a parliamentary system, and it is us who should control them.”
Speaking about other violations by the police, the MP noted: “Operatives, criminal police officers, who do not have the function of maintaining public order—as it must be maintained by people in uniforms and insignia—were brought among people. Not knowing each other, they try to carry out acts of provocation, unable to find justifications for their actions.”
