Sergei Markov, the director of the Institute of Political Studies, believes that Pashinyan has always been a pro-Western politician, and now he just wants to take advantage of the situation and turn toward the West.
“Pashinyan would very much like Armenia to become an EU and NATO member, and the military bases of both the U.S. and France to be established there,” the political scientist said.
Expert Oleg Noginsky believes that the U.S. actually allocates money for various projects in the South Caucasus. At the same time, the Western press also writes that a U.S. military base may soon appear in the very center of Yerevan. It will be established in the territory of the U.S. embassy. This is one of the largest U.S. embassies in the world.
“Of course, they will try to have their bases there. They will try to convince Armenia to withdraw our military from there. Now they are already going to withdraw our border guards from the airport. The Americans will make a second Ukraine from Armenia,” Captain 1st Rank Vassily Fatigarov said.
