Menua Soghomonyan: MPs from KP announced that they would boycott the extraordinary session
The purpose of today’s session of the National Assembly was to approve the proposal of the Opposition to hold an extraordinary session. At that meeting, the demand for the resignation of the Government due to the failure of the provisions of the Government’s 2021–2026 plans was to be discussed. It was the National Assembly that formed the Government. In other words, it is different from the process of impeachment in nature but is equivalent to it in terms of political significance. Menua Soghomonyan, a member of the Hayakve initiative, said this to ABC Media.
“If the majority of MPs, i.e., 54 people, demand that the Government resign, it means that the balance of power is changing. According to the information I have, the motion to convene an extraordinary session was rejected in a very cynical way.
Now, it is important that many people gather here after the demand they made for the resignation of the Government. Thus, we can force them to convene the session and put the Government’s resignation issue on the agenda,” Soghomonyan said.
MPs from KP announced that they would boycott the session.
“In order to prevent this intention of KP from becoming a reality, we must put pressure with our physical presence. We are calling on our compatriots to come and be here. The consultations between the MPs and the leaders of the Tavush for the Homeland movement will also end shortly after. They will say more clearly what they plan to do in the near future,” Soghomonyan said.
