Leonid Slutsky: The Armenian leadership is making a big mistake, treading the “Ukrainian path”

The countries of the West are dragging Armenia into their sphere of influence solely to inflict a “strategic defeat” on Russia, Leonid Slutsky, the chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee on International Affairs, told NEWS.ru. At the same time, he noted that strengthening relations with other countries is part of Yerevan’s domestic affairs. The deputy added that the West does not hide the price of admission to the “club of friends” of the U.S., which is the transition to an anti-Russian line. “The present leadership of Armenia, following the Western trend, is making a big mistake and, in fact, is treading the “Ukrainian path”, betraying the interests of its people and centuries-old friendly ties,” Slutsky noted.

According to Ukrainian political scientist Vladimir Skachko, the West is resorting to tactics in the South Caucasus that it has used more than once in other regions. According to him, when Washington wants to better control the region, it creates chaos there. That was the case with Ukraine. The same may happen in Armenia, from where the U.S. can threaten not only Russia, but also Iran and Turkey. This is an integrated approach.
