Eu to give armenia 18 million euros

The government approved the decree signed by the armenian president on the approval of the “state and resilience strengthening agreement for the republic of armenia” financing agreement between the republic of armenia and the european commission.

The agreement, worth €15 million, was signed in the first quarter of 2024.

Armenian deputy prime minister mher grigoryan said that the project aims to support armenia’s social and economic resilience, particularly to address the urgent, mid-term and long-term problems facing people forcibly displaced from nagorno-karabakh.

“within the framework of the project, one-time multipurpose financial assistance is planned: support aimed to meet temporary housing needs and utility expenses, to support women and vulnerable groups, as well as the social and economic rehabilitation of the host communities,” grigoryan said.

He noted that today they approved another project as well, under which the eu will allocate another €3 million to armenia, which is aimed to support the armenian government in the process of broader reforms as well as the further social and economic integration of forcibly displaced persons from nagorno-karabakh, in particular, regarding the implementation of healthcare, social protection and employment strategies.
