U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken had a telephone conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. Blinken took notice of the progress achieved by Armenia and Azerbaijan toward the peace treaty and highlighted the need for the immediate conclusion of the agreement.
He reiterated that the United States is ready to support the parties in any way that will be useful. Emphasizing the importance of bilateral relations between the U.S. and Azerbaijan, Blinken underlined constructive cooperation with Azerbaijan on common climate and energy goals, adding that the U.S. is committed to helping COP29 succeed.
Blinken called for the renewal and strengthening of bilateral relations between the United States and Azerbaijan. He noted once again that Azerbaijan must comply with its international obligations to protect human rights and release all those unjustly imprisoned.
