Raya Nazaryan, an Armenian by origin, has been elected chairperson of the National Assembly of Bulgaria by 131 votes to 66, with 39 abstentions, the Bulgarian News Agency reports.
“Parliament, regardless of the level of public trust, is the only platform entitled to legitimize executive and legislative authorities,” Nazaryan said after being elected.
She noted that the deputies can count on her in terms of dialogue, justice, equality and unconditional adherence to the charter, laws and regulations of the National Assembly.
