During the rallies, there were cases of use of force by the police, which were not proportionate, Armenian Human Rights Defender (Ombudsman) Anahit Manasyan told the press.
“A number of cases were not even recorded on video, that is, I do not have facts, but I have information provided by people, which proves that the force used was not proportionate. While the issue of special measures should be discussed separately. It is necessary to analyze in detail whether the application of special measures was based on the principle of proportionality or not,” she added.
According to Manasyan, any representative of the state agencies, who may have committed an offense, should be held accountable, but the lawful behavior of citizens is also important.
