It was Azerbaijan that rejected Armenia’s proposal, but Yerevan’s official proposal still stands: Armenian Foreign Ministry clarifies

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia denied the information that Nikol Pashinyan had refused to meet with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in London. The Azerbaijani media spread the news about Pashinyan’s alleged refusal, noting that Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Hikmet Hajiyev called Pashinyan’s move a retreat from the peace agenda.

“The Armenian side proposed holding a bilateral meeting between the Armenian prime minister and the Azerbaijani president within the framework of the European Political Community Summit in the U.K., but the Azerbaijani side rejected the proposal. The proposal of the Armenian side still stands. The Armenian side also reaffirms its proposal to intensify negotiations at the highest level and to reach the conclusion of a peace treaty within a month,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia said in a statement.

To remind, Nikol Pashinyan and Ilham Aliyev are in the United Kingdom to attend the Fourth European Political Community Summit.
