Hakan Fidan doesn’t rule out opening of border between Armenia and Turkey after Yerevan and Baku normalize relations
Turkey may open the border with neighboring Armenia after the settlement of relations between this country and Azerbaijan, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said.
“The negotiation process between Azerbaijan and Armenia continues. We have to prepare our scenario in case of its positive ending, and work is going on in this direction. If it ends, we will activate the optimistic scenario, i.e., we can open our gates at the border,” the Turkish minister noted.
To remind, on July 30, special representatives of the process of settlement between Armenia and Turkey, Deputy President of the National Assembly of Armenia Ruben Rubinyan and Ambassador Serdar Kılıç held the fifth meeting at the Margara-Alijan border crossing between the two countries. They agreed to assess the technical needs in accordance with regional developments that would enable the operation of the Akhurik/Akyaka railway border crossing, as well as mutually facilitate visa procedures for holders of diplomatic/official passports.
