Russian officials: The EU is trying to “brainwash” Armenia

The European Union is trying to “brainwash” Armenia, which wants to join it, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee Aleksey Zhuravlyov said . According to him, everyone perfectly understands that Armenia will never become an EU member, but they are trying to turn the country against Russia.

Zhuravlyov noted  that there was such a situation in 2014, when Ukraine began to turn into an “aggressive anti-Russian monster”. As the deputy noted, now Kyiv has run out of resources, and Yerevan has probably been chosen as its replacement. According to Sergei Tsekov, a member of the Federation Council, the signature collection announced by Armenia for joining the EU is to no avail.

According to him, Yerevan will only spend extra money on the referendum. Tsekov noted that the most important thing for the EU is to pull the countries apart from Russia. According to him, the situation in Armenia has stagnated due to the actions of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, especially after the Karabakh crisis. Tsekov believes that the Armenian politician blames Russia for his failures, trying to convince his people of this.
