Mohamed Morsi, the vice president of the internal security of Hamas, was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Jabalia, Gaza Strip. Four family members were also killed, health officials said.
The Civil Emergency Service reported that since Oct. 7, 83 of its service personnel have been killed in Israeli attacks. Israel has not yet commented on Morsi’s death.
Locals said that Israeli forces also blew up several houses in Gaza’s Zeitoun district. The doctors reported that they could not help many people who were under rubble; the number of the injured is high.
A resident of Gaza said: “We can constantly hear sounds of shelling from Zeitoun. We know that they are demolishing houses there. We cannot sleep because of the sounds of explosions. The sounds of tanks are very close, and the drones are constantly buzzing above us”.
The Gaza Ministry of Health reported on Sunday that at least 15 people were killed in the entire Gaza Strip in the Israeli strikes.
Residents of central and southern Gaza also reported disruptions to internet and telephone services. The Palestinian telecommunications company said it was due to “ongoing Israeli attacks”.
Palestinians say the connection outages—the first in months—are hampering emergency services and making it difficult for people to contact relatives or report attacks.
