The border between Iran and Armenia has a wall of several thousand years; everyone, including the Russian Federation, should respect that. an Iranian official

In response to the claims about the opening of the “Zangezur corridor” and the statements of Russian officials regarding cooperation with Azerbaijan and Turkey in this regard, Hassan Kashkavi, a member of the Commission of National-Security and Foreign-Policy of the Iranian Parliament, told Mehr News that the stability and friendship of the region requires stability and no change of borders.

According to him, the direct border between Iran and Armenia has a history of several thousand years, and all countries, including the Russian government, should respect this issue. “We should all pay attention to preserving the territorial integrity of countries and recognizing international borders,” Kashkavi noted, adding that based on this, such a stance of Russia or the statement made about the “Zangezur corridor” is rather surprising.

“In any case, we hope that Russia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Armenia and all countries will try to take effective actions on the margins of respect for territorial integrity and independence and recognition of international borders.

In recent days, Russian officials highlighted the need for opening the “Zangezur corridor” and cooperation with Azerbaijan and Turkey in this matter, which received a response from Iran. Foreign Minister Sayyid Abbas Araghchi said: “Regional peace, security and stability are not only a priority, but also one of the pillars of our national security. Any threat to the territorial integrity of our neighbors or the redrawing of borders, be it in the north, south, east or west, is completely unacceptable and is considered a red line for Iran.”
