The Middle East is on the brink of a major regional war, and Russia is working with all parties to avert it. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at the Russia-GCC meeting for Strategic Dialogue.
“The inability of the international community to stop hostilities in the Gaza Strip and the mass death of its residents has led to a sharp deterioration of the military-political situation in the entire region, from the border of Lebanon and Israel to the Red Sea. At the same time, the confrontation between Israel and Lebanon has reached a new dangerous level. The Middle East is again on the brink of a major regional war. It is our common responsibility to prevent this,” Lavrov said.
According to him, the establishment of stability in the Middle East is impossible without the settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. “We are working with all parties to address the situation,” Lavrov said.
