Russian Ambassador to Azerbaijan calls for non-politicization of US idea of road creation through Baku and Yerevan

The U.S. project to build a new road from Central Asia through the territory of Azerbaijan and Armenia should not be politicized, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Russia Polad Bulbuloghlu told TASS.

Washington is considering plans to open a transport route, bypassing Russia and China. “I would not politicize this issue. The fact is that any transport initiative does not at all mean that when a new corridor is opened, everyone will immediately leave the already tested and convenient route. It requires a lot of time, large investments of funds, and the agreement of many countries,” the diplomat noted.

Bulbuloghlu also announced the end of his long-term diplomatic mission in Moscow.

“I have worked in Moscow for 18.5 years. That’s a lot for the diplomatic service,” he said.

The candidacy of the new ambassador of Azerbaijan to Russia has not been decided yet. The ambassador added that the main consulate of Russia may appear in Azerbaijan; the issue is under discussion.
