A conference titled “One Year Without Artsakh: Statistics and Strategic Perspectives” has been organized on the initiative of Genesis Armenia Think Tank and Foundation.
Historian Armen Sargsyan, the head of the humanitarian research sector at Genesis Armenia Think Tank and Foundation, produced statistics showing the material damage caused to Armenians by the loss of Artsakh.
Before moving on to the statistics, Abraham Gasparyan, the head of the foundation, noted that this data had not been stored before. The process of the collection of these data was launched jointly with Artsakh Union.
According to the already collected data, there were four reservoirs, five canals, 37 hydroelectric power plants, and 48 mines in Artsakh.
“The Republic of Artsakh lost 12 cities, 241 villages, 11,450 apartments, 13,550 houses, 60 factories, 15 plants. Seventeen cultural centers were left in Artsakh, with 10 of them being republican and seven regional. We lost 200 centers of culture, 11 art schools, two theaters, 25 museums with their branches, two music schools, one educational institution. After the occupation of Artsakh, four universities, seven colleges, 232 secondary schools and five high schools were left there,” Sargsyan said.
According to the statistics produced by Sargsyan, 156 libraries were left in Artsakh, of which two were republican, eight were regional, and 146 were rural.
