All those who visit Baku to attend COP29 should consider it their moral duty to call for the return of forcibly displaced persons to Nagorno-Karabakh and the release of hostages. According to Armenpress, member of the European Parliament Nathalie Loiseau said this at a Council of Europe session.
Loiseau noted that a year ago, Azerbaijan carried out a military offensive against Nagorno-Karabakh and forcibly displaced more than 100,000 people, thus leaving the mark of the first ethnic cleansing of the 21st century in history. And after a year, no one has a chance to return to their home.
“Azerbaijan continues to hold prisoners of the previous conflict as hostages, and they also have no chance to return home. The spiritual and cultural heritage of Nagorno-Karabakh is under threat, and many monuments have already been destroyed. Azerbaijan has not signed a peace treaty with Armenia and will host the COP29 conference in a few weeks. All those who visit Baku should consider it their moral duty to call for the return to Nagorno-Karabakh and the release of the hostages,” Loiseau said.
