Zakharova: Séjourné’s words to Russia are “disrespectful” to Armenia
Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova commented on outgoing French Foreign Minister Stéphane Séjourné’s statement, where he said that Russia is trying to put pressure on Armenia.
“It is surprising that our allies, partners, and neighbors—I mean the political leadership, officials and non-governmental organizations—do not react to it. It happened in the territory of Armenia. If in our country, anyone said something like this to our friends who help us, regularly stand up for us, our people, sacrificing their lives, we would find an opportunity to sober up such figures and remind them that our history does not allow such degrading treatment by third parties,” Zakharova described Séjourné’s remarks on Russia as “stupid” and to Armenia as “disrespectful”.
Zakharova added that the agenda of Western countries is destructive for the given region. “What they need is a clash between the states of those regions. They do not help in development; they do not help in solving problems; they are not ready to bring the conflicting parties together; they are only capable of destroying, poisoning. It is another manifestation of all this,” Zakharova said.
