Armenian students took one silver and one bronze each at the 36th International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI 2024), held on Sept. 1-8 in Alexandria, Egypt, the Armenian Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports (MoESCS) reports.
Three hundred and seventy students from 96 countries participated in the Olympiad. Each country could be represented by a maximum of four students.
The Armenian team was represented by Hakob Ayvazyan, a 12th-grader from Gyumri High School No. 1, Tsovak Yegoryan, an 11th-grader from PhysMath School, Alex Grigoryan, a 10th-grader from Quantum College and Gagik Gevorgyan, an 11th-grader from Quantum College. The Armenian team won one silver (Gagik Gevorgyan) and one bronze (Tsovak Yegoryan), as well as two commendations (Hakob Ayvazyan and Alex Grigoryan).
The Olympiad was held in two rounds with three tasks in each.
The team was led by YSU lecturer Armen Andreasyan and student Samvel Andreasyan.
To remind, in 2023, The Armenian team won three bronze medals at the IOI 2023, held in Hungary.
