Mass was offered today in the Cathedral of the Holy Cross on Aghtamar Island, the largest island in Lake Van.
Bishop Sahak II Mashalian, the primate of the Armenian Diocese of Istanbul, attended the Mass.
After the reconstruction of the Cathedral of the Holy Cross, the Turkish government gave permission to offer Mass there once a year. Usually, Mass is celebrated here on the Sunday prior to the Feast of the Cross.
