In the Armavir Regional Investigation Department of the RA Investigative Committee, the preliminary investigation into the criminal proceedings brought in connection with the murder of one police officer and attempted murder of four others continues, the Investigative Committee reports.
As we have already noted, on Sept. 7, 2024, operative information was received that a 41-year-old resident of Nalbandyan settlement of Armavir Province illegally kept firearms in the VAZ 210740 I car registered under the name of his brother. To check the information, a group of the employees of the Armavir Province Department of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs went to Nalbandyan settlement.
According to the factual data obtained during the investigation, a group of police officers noticed the said man driving a VAZ 2107 car on the road from Nalbandyan settlement to Nor Artagers. Stopping the car, the police officers approached him to arrest.
Noticing the police, realizing the real possibility of the latter discovering the firearm he illegally acquired and kept in the mentioned car at that moment, as well as fearing his arrest, the said person, with the intention of illegally depriving the police officers of their lives, in a dangerous way for other people, fired with AK- 74 rifle at the aforementioned police officers and ran away.
As a result, one police officer died, and another one received serious bodily injuries.
The 41-year-old man, due to circumstances beyond his control, did not complete his criminal intent, as the life of the aforementioned police officer who received a gunshot wound was saved thanks to timely medical assistance, and the other police officers managed to hide and avoid the shots fired at them.
After committing the above-mentioned alleged crimes, the 41-year-old man kept the AK-74 rifle he illegally acquired and kept and 10 5.45 mm bullets intended for it in the area of the cattle ranch located in the same settlement, which on Sept. 8, were submitted to the investigation department by the owner of the cattle ranch.
On the basis of the obtained sufficient facts, a public criminal prosecution was initiated against the 41-year-old resident of Nalbandyan settlement, and he was charged with Clause 1 and Clause 7 of Part 2 of Article 155 of the RA Criminal Code, by Clause 1 and Clause 7 of part 2 of Article 44-155 (Section 4), Clause 2 of Part 4 of Article 452 (Section 2), Clause 2 of Part 4 of Article 44-452 (Section 3) and Part 1 of Article 335. Preventive detention was applied to him.
The investigation is underway.
