Apple to block iPhones with donor parts
Apple will be able to block iPhones with donor parts, Beta Profiles writes.
The Activation Lock feature will appear in the new iOS 18 and will be applied to displays, cameras and batteries.
On iPhone 12 and newer versions, Activation Lock with an Apple account can be activated.
If the system detects previously used parts, the user will be forced to enter the account password from the original smartphone. This is how Apple wants to put an end to the market of spare parts for stolen phones.
iOS 18 will be available from Sept. 16.
