I am innocent: Vladimir Gasparyan on court decision

I continue to declare that I am innocent. We will get acquainted with the court’s decision and we will understand what to do next, today, after a court hearing, Vladimir Gasparyan, the former police chief of Armenia, told the press.

“The most important thing is not to be free, but to be found innocent. Why should people remember me as the guilty party? As for the persons who gave testimony about my case, I don’t want to mention their names. There are people among them who work or don’t work, it doesn’t matter,” Gasparyan said.

“The temptation to give assessments is very great. But Vardges Sargsyan gave me the impression of a professional judge, and we need to get to know his observations to understand whether it is his conviction or the result of coercion. From an emotional point of view, such a judicial act is, of course, unacceptable, because there is nothing related to the Criminal Code. However, I should note that we will give a clear legal assessment only after we have the court act,” the advocate said.

To remind, Vladimir Gasparyan was found guilty; he was sentenced to six years in prison, but was granted an amnesty.
