48 die from alcohol poisoning in Iran

Forty-eight people have died from alcohol poisoning in Iran. The alcohol contained methanol, Haberler writes.

As noted, hundreds of people were hospitalized with acute poisoning in Mazandaran, Gilan, Hamadan and Zanjan provinces of Iran.

According to local authorities, 21 people have died in Mazandaran, 15 in Gilan, 11 in Hamadan, and one in Zanjan. Some of the victims have lost their sight.

Local authorities have arrested several people involved in the production and sale of fake alcohol.
