Bridge collapses in Kursk region

A bridge in the Kursk region collapsed overnight during the passage of a freight train, said Alexander Khinshtein, acting governor of the Kursk region.

“Tonight, at the 48th kilometer of the Trosna-Kalinovka highway in the Zheleznogorsk district, a bridge collapsed during the movement of a freight train. Part of the train fell onto the road beneath the bridge. The train caught fire. The Ministry of Emergency Situations quickly localized the fire. Other trains are at the railway station,” the governor wrote.

He noted that the road under the bridge is closed, and traffic is organized through a detour.

“The cause of the bridge collapse will be determined,” Khinshtein noted.
