Residents of Armenian-populated village in Kessab face uncertainty amid nearby wildfire
A wildfire in Syria has reached the vicinity of Duzaghach, an Armenian-populated village in Kessab. Dozens of firefighters have been deployed to the area, attempting to contain the flames.
One of the village residents, who wished to remain anonymous, spoke to ABCmedia, describing the situation on the ground: “There was a serious risk that the fire would reach the homes. Local residents joined the firefighters, and together they managed to prevent the fire from spreading further. Thank God, there have been no casualties in the village.”
According to the resident, the situation has stabilized somewhat compared to last night. However, uncertainty remains among the villagers as they don’t know what to do — whether to stay in the village or move to a relatively safer location.
Earlier, reports confirmed that a forest fire had broken out near the Armenian-inhabited town of Kessab.
