The Israeli military has launched airstrikes on Gaza City. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had earlier ordered the attacks, claiming that the Palestinian group Hamas violated the ceasefire agreement and deceived Israel over the return of hostages’ bodies, the BBC reports. https://www.bbc.com/russian/articles/c051elrjg0loվb
According to Gaza’s civil defense and hospital authorities, which are controlled by Hamas, at least 33 Palestinians have been killed in the latest Israeli strikes. The bombings damaged homes and schools in Gaza City, Beit Lahia, al-Bureij, Nuseirat, and Khan Younis.
“Following security consultations, Prime Minister Netanyahu instructed the army to deliver immediate and powerful strikes on the Gaza Strip,” the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump declared that “nothing can undermine” the ceasefire agreement reached under his mediation, adding that Israel “must respond” if its soldiers come under attack.
After Netanyahu’s announcement about the strikes, Hamas stated it would not hand over another hostage’s body to Israel for the time being.
