What is the situation in Aleppo? Details from ABC Media
Clashes that began in Aleppo yesterday afternoon continued throughout the night. The city has been largely deserted and has taken on the appearance of a military zone. Heavy artillery and various other weapons are being used. While there are numerous casualties and injuries, the Armenian community has not suffered losses, according to ABC Media’s Armenian sources in Aleppo.
“The situation is not calming down; gunfire is continuous. Residents are not leaving their homes, and schools and government institutions are closed. The airport has also been shut down,” a source told ABC Media.
One representative of the Armenian community told us that the Christmas mass at the Armenian church was conducted successfully.
The clashes are approaching the Armenian-populated neighborhood of Nor Gyugh, creating an atmosphere of fear among residents; some buildings have been damaged. The situation remains tense in Aleppo.
