Armenians injured in Aleppo

Armenians have been injured in the shelling in Aleppo, the spokesperson for the Armenian community in the city, Zhirayr Reisyan, told ABC Media.

“I do not have full details yet, but I was informed earlier that overnight shelling damaged their homes and vehicles,” Reisyan said.

The situation in Aleppo remains tense. Sounds of gunfire and strikes are still being heard, though no large-scale military operations have been recorded so far.

“However, the city is not functioning normally. Neighborhoods have been declared military zones, and residents have been urged to leave these areas. Although a possible attack had been expected, the situation last night was relatively stable. Some shops are open, and residents are generally able to purchase basic necessities, including bread. Nevertheless, the situation cannot be described as normal,” Reisyan noted.

Some families have already been forced to leave their homes. Others have temporarily taken shelter in mosques and other open halls. For the Armenian community, the halls of the Armenian Diocese have been opened to provide shelter to families with nowhere else to stay.

Representatives of the Armenian community have shared phone numbers with residents to ensure a rapid response in case of emergencies or urgent needs. Volunteer groups are also operating, and a Red Cross medical point remains open to provide medical assistance. According to Reisyan, communities are making every effort to support one another.
